At Gaia in Dubai, Tina Gavasheli’s art installation unfolds across the curved surfaces of the architecture. From deep blue to turquoise, layers of paint form an abstract landscape whose movements evoke water. Areas of white give space to the brushwork and carry the light of the setting through the composition.
An artwork shaped by its setting
The painting follows the rounded walls and reveals itself from different viewpoints. Among planting, natural materials and the shadows of the pergola, it creates a visual focal point within the experience of the venue.
The artist’s hand
Tina Gavasheli works directly on site. The photographs reveal brushwork, layers and the relief of the paint. From a distance, the composition comes together; up close, the individual gestures become visible.
